Hands

Hands

The image of the bejeweled hands of a Sudanese lady that graces the book's front cover was taken in 1991 during the Pole to Pole journey, and gave Basil the idea of doing a series on the human hand. Over the next 14 years, he made photographic studies of hands wherever he went. This book features a collection of 200 "portraits" of hands from 45 different countries around the world, each accompanied by a picture of the place where they were taken, text includes extended captions by Basil and a foreword by Michael Palin.
