Basil first visited Bhutan in the autumn of 1992 when working on Bernardo Bertolucci's film Little Buddha - and immediately fell in love with the kingdom and its people. Eight years later Amanresorts announced plans to build six lodges in Bhutan and invited Basil to produce a photographic study of the country. He returned to Bhutan in 2003 on behalf of Aman, and also with Michael Palin and his crew during filming the Himalaya series for the BBC. The images in this book are selected from all Basil's visits to the kingdom, and are accompanied by a foreword by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche and an introduction by Pico Iyer.
