Sahara | Michael Palin

The Michael Palin series Sahara was filmed in a little over four - very uncomfortable - months between February 2001 and February 2002. From the comfort of Gibraltar and Tangiers, the crew travelled south through Morocco and the disputed territory of Western Sahara into Mauritania and Senegal. From Dakar on the Atlantic coast they moved east into Mali and Niger, before turning north into Algeria and into Libya. From Tobruk they turned west, following the Mediterranean coast across Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. By the time they re-crossed the Strait of Gibraltar, Michael and his crew had covered over 10,000 miles and traveled through some of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet. This is Michael's diary of the journey, illustrated with Basil's photographs.
