Pole to Pole | Michael Palin

In August 1995 Basil joined Michael Palin and his crew on the tiny island of Little Diomede in the Bering Strait to begin an epic journey around the Pacific Rim. Over the next year, they travelled south across the Russian Far East, through Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, East Malaysia, Java in Indonesia and down through Australia to the tip of New Zealand's South Island. Starting from Cape Horn in Chile they headed north over the spine of the Andes through Bolivia and Peru to the source of the Amazon. Then from Colombia, they travelled up through Mexico, the US west coast, Canada and Alaska, finally arriving back in the Bering Strait a year later. This book is Michael's diary of the journey, illustrated with Basil's photographs.
